SolidCNC Milling Module

Rough machining technologies
SolidCNC Software has strong rough machining capability for 3D surface and solid models. By these technologies you may program your CNC easily and faster and remove high amount of material in relatively shorter times.

Intermediate slices
During roughing intermediate slices may be added so that there is less cusp left for the semifinish or finishing stages. By the help of intermediate slices you may increase the stepdown value for rough machining but still get small cusps.

Define stock model for casting
You may do the roughing by defining a stock model and you will not cut air for casting pieces if you have the geometric model of them.

Calculate remaining material and use it
SolidCNC may calculate remaining material geometric model after roughing operation and lets you to use this model for rest roughing operations.

Parallel cuts
Lines parallel to X or Y axis are dropped on the model and toolpaths are made. Rastering can be done with arbitrary angles to X axis if needed. It is possible to limit the toolpaths with boundary curves or even with neighbor surfaces.

Z const machining
Model is cut with Z slices and toolpaths are calculated. It is possible to limit the toolpaths by defining wall angles (For instance you have the chance to machine walls steeper than 70 degrees let’s say.

Curve projection
User defined curves are dropped on the model and toolpaths are calculated. Curves can be offseted in any direction and any number of passes can be produced. By this method you may engrave fonts on the part model.

Flat lands machining:
The surfaces with normals parallel to machining direction are detected automatically and machined by this cycle.

Geodesic:
Flat and steep surfaces may be machined together by this cycle. Stepover for flat regions is done in horizontal and stepover for steep walls are done in vertical. This ensures constant cusp along all directions and good surface quality.

Spiral and radial projection:
These cycles are good for cutting circular part shapes

Corner cleaning:
You may clean the remaining materials in corners with smaller tools easily.

4 Axis rotary machining :
By cylindirical projection continous 4 axis toolpaths are calculated. You may use your milling machine just like a lathe and cut shapes which are not possible to machine by 3 axis cycles.

Index machining:
You may make toolpaths by all cycles from different machining directions. ( Not only in +Z direction, you may also have the toolpaths along +X , -X , +Y ,-Y , -Z machining directions). You will define a machine definition file for outputting the toolpath NC files appropriately. This machine definition file contains information about rotary axes of the machine tool and is used for post processing the cutter locations. By the help of index machining functionality you may touch the undercut regions by approaching from different directions.

Machine Simulation :
You can visualize your CNC machine tool and operations on it. This will help you to prevent collisions.
